History of Boettcher Mansion – A Colorado Wedding Venue

Boettcher Mansion, nestled in the heart of Colorado, boasts a rich history dating back to 1917 when it was constructed as a secluded retreat for Charles Boettcher. This magnificent Tudor-style estate, built with locally-sourced materials, has since been repurposed as an idyllic wedding and event venue. Once a haven for influential figures, including the Queen of Romania, it now welcomes couples seeking a picturesque and tranquil setting for their special day. Surrounded by majestic pine trees and rustic features, it provides a unique escape from the urban bustle, just 20 minutes from downtown Golden–a fun town with lots of food and lodging options. Whether exchanging vows on the outdoor patio with panoramic views or celebrating within its spacious banquet hall, Boettcher Mansion embodies timeless elegance and charm, making it a captivating choice for couples embarking on their new journey together.

Boettcher Mansion Venue Tour

The Venue

Boettcher Mansion was built largely using materials from the surrounding area, it is classified as in the “Tudor” style due to its wooden beams set in stucco facade. Upon entering the mansion, you’ll see a fireplace seating room and on the left is a coat closet for guests. Continuing down the hall will take you to the reception space and then outdoors to the ceremony patio.

Getting Ready

There are two main getting ready suites at Boettcher Mansion, one downstairs and one upstairs. Both suites have tons of natural light and space to get ready. The lower suite also has a sunroom attached which is perfect for portraits or just hanging out before ceremony.

Ceremony

Ceremonies are mostly held outdoors on the patio with views overlooking the gorgeous pine grove. But in the event of inclement weather, they can also be held indoors in front of the fireplace (the main reception space).

There are tons of gorgeous photo locations at Boettcher mansion. The whole venue is surrounded by pine trees which makes a stunning backdrop no matter the year. In the spring and summer the venue has tons of flowers and vegetation, making it another great spot for wedding photos. And lastly, you are just a short walk to Lookout Mountain, where there’s some great locations with a mountain view.

Reception

Receptions are held indoors in the main banquet hall. But you can have special dances outside under the bistro lights where ceremony was held if you’re going for a slightly different vibe! The reception space is quite spacious to accomodate a larger guest count. During reception service your guests can also mingle into the front room where there’s plenty of space to hang out.

Things to consider when choosing a Colorado wedding venue:

  1. What is the rain backup plan? In the event of inclement weather, Boettcher Mansion has an indoor option so you don’t have to stress.
  2. How far from Denver? Boettcher Mansion is located right on the outskirts of Golden (one of my favorite small Colorado towns, there’s tons of restaurants and hotels nearby) and just a 30 minute drive from downtown Denver, making it super accessible for all of your guests.
  3. Can you get ready onsite? Having getting ready suites allows for a seamless and stress free day. You don’t have to worry about moving locations.

A March wedding at Boettcher Mansion

Rebecca and Jake’s March wedding at Boettcher Mansion was stunning. The weather was uncharacteristically perfect for Colorado in March, just a light smattering of snow but tons of sun and blue skies. They had a traditional Jewish wedding, so the ceremony setup and flow of events might look a little different than your wedding day.
