Your elopement is not a backup plan, it's not plan B, it's not you running off to Vegas. Just because you're eloping, doesn't mean it shouldn't be as celebrated and special as a traditional wedding. In fact, it should be even more special and unique. Because it's intentional and focuses on the most important part of marriage. You and your partner.

Colorado Elopement Locations

Colorado has a wide variety of different locations and backdrops, from intimate venues, to stunning courthouses to lakefront views to perched on a mountain. Whatever your vision is, Colorado will likely have something you'll love! (Unless you want to get married by the ocean... you'll have no luck in that department). If you haven't chosen your location yet, consider one of these spots! But with all elopements, I am happy to scout and find the perfect spot for you!

Brainard Lake

Brainard Lake is one of my favorite locations just an hour from Boulder. It's right on the lake with the mountains and trees in the background but with virtually no hike. It is quite popular, so shoot for a weekday. It is only open via car June-October.

3M Curve

Rocky mountain park

The 3M curve has some gorgeous mountains views. It is a little tricky getting there, but once you park you can walk right up. There is a 15 person max. A $300 permit and $25 entry fee are required.

Maroon Bells Ampitheater

The Maroon Bells are probably the most iconic mountains in Colorado. The view from the amphitheater deck is absolutely stunning. It is $200 to reserve, but is incredibly competitive. If you're interested in this spot, inquire now!!

Sapphire Point Overlook

Sapphire Point is a beautiful overlook that is incredibly accessible. The only downside is it's a hugely popular hiking area so there's very little privacy. There is a $120 permit and can fit 30 people.

Garden of the Gods

colorado springs

The Garden of the Gods is one of the most unique locations, it is a stunning spot with the gorgeous red rocks in the background. This location is free and first come first serve.

Echo Lake

This lake is a gorgeous lake by Mount Evans. It's a lot less trafficked than Rocky Mountain but just as beautiful!

Sunrise Amphitheater

The Sunrise Amphitheater is a beautiful location overlooking Boulder. It is $400 depending on time of year and if you're a Colorado resident. There isn't much shade at this location, so I highly recommend a sunrise or sunset ceremony. There isn't a mountain view, but it is still so magical.

Emerald Lake

Crested butte

This lake is located just a 5 minute walk from your car. It is beautiful in Spring and Fall. A photography permit is required.

Great Sand Dunes

South of pueblo

This location is incredibly unique and such a gorgeous place to elope. There is no shade so I highly recommend a sunset or sunrise session. There is a $250 permit fee.

It's not just beautiful photos, it's a stellar

After filling out my contact form, I'll be in touch and send over my pricing guide if I'm available. Once you've browsed the collections and read the faq's, you'll schedule a video call using the scheduler link in your inquiry email. During that meeting you can ask any questions and I'll learn a little more about your vision and needs for wedding day to make sure we're the right fit!

the next step

After our consultation I'll send over a proposal that will be live for 7 days. The proposal will have all my different packages and add-ons. You and your fiance can choose and customize the perfect package, but also don't stress if you don't know for sure what you want right away, you can always add hours or à la carte items later! You'll then be directed to an invoice to pay your retainer and contract. Once your retainer has been paid and contract signed you'll be officially booked!!!

the next step

I'm a very type A person. I love details and organization, which is why learning about your wedding day is super important to me! This is where my elopement questionnaire comes in. It has lots of information such as your family shot list, must have images, and more. This will really help me get a feel of your priorities and expectations of your elopement day, so I can tailor my experience to best fit your needs!

the next step

Timelines are usually one of the most stressful things for my couples, so I'm happy to assist or even create one from scratch! Not only will I be able to help you with photo related events (such as how long family photos will take with your shot list or when the best lighting is for your ceremony) but I can also provide lots of insight for the whole day (like when you should leave for the venue or what you should look for in a getting ready space).

the next step

Final Consult

After you've filled out my questionnaire and I've created a rough timeline, I like to schedule one last consultation. This can be either a video call or in person (I love doing these at your venue!) We'll go over the questionnaire and make sure we're all on the same page. I want to do everything in my power to ensure you have the most stress free, fun wedding- so it's super important that I know all the details before the big day!

the next step

Wedding day!

Today's the day! All the planning and prep has lead to this! Now is the time where you get to relax and enjoy yourself!

the next step

Image Delivery

After your elopement I'll immediately come home and start backing up your images (no matter how late it is!) Then I'll get to work on a few sneak peeks. Two weeks later your blog post or highlight gallery will go live with 50-80 of my favorite images that really tell the story of your day. And then in 6-8 you'll receive your final images to download via a gorgeous online gallery. Pop some champagne and make it a date night relieving your special day.

When is the Best Time for a Colorado Elopement?

Colorado temperatures vary greatly from season to season (and even day to day!!) Here are some weather related tips for your Colorado elopement.

Summer is one of my favorite times to photograph in Colorado
because the weather is so predictable. Temperatures are relatively mild (especially comparing it to Texas, my home state!)

Spring can be colder than you might think!
Especially if you're wanting to go into the mountains. And there might not be as many flowers and fauna since it takes longer for the winter ice to melt.

Fall has the most gorgeous colors, but it comes and goes quickly!
Fall is my favorite season in Colorado. The orange and yellow leaves are absolutely magical. But Fall can come and go quickly. Sometimes those gorgeous leaves only last a week. But if you plan it right (and with a little luck) your wedding would be stunning.

Winter can be freezing or mild.
Winter in Colorado is always a toss up. It can be frigid or mild. Always plan for it being cold. (Layers, proper transportation, etc.)

my take...

When would I plan a Colorado wedding? Go with Summer or Fall! If you're wanting those gorgeous fall colors, aim for late September. Luckily though, Colorado is beautiful all year round– you really can't go wrong!

"Leah is a MUST hire"

"She knows the perfect angles and poses and is especially talented when it comes to delivering the final results!! It was my first time working with a professional photographer and I was not let down by the quality or pricing Leah has to offer! Literally smiling as I write this! I wish you so many more clients Leah!"

Amelia & Hans

"We cannot say enough good things about Leah!"

"She took the time to plan out a detailed wedding day schedule with us and to get to know our preferences for photos, so she could be sure to capture the moments that were most important to us. On the wedding day, Leah kept to the schedule and made taking photos so fun! But my husband and I were nervous about taking couples photos, but Leah made it so easy and fun. Many of our family members commented on how efficient the family portraits were. We were able to get all the photos we wanted and more! We are so happy with all the wonderful photos we received from Leah. We highly recommend Leah Goetzel Photography!"

Maddy & James

"She truly puts her clients first and will go through great measures to make sure they are comfortable and happy with their photos. I was on a budget for photos and I do not exaggerate when I say that she is the most talented photographer I know. In my opinion she's the best of the best and for a great price. I could not recommend her enough I'm so happy to of met such a wonderful person!"

Lance & Gwen

"Me and my husband booked her as our wedding photographer in October of 2018. Leah was such an absolute joy to work with!! Her positive and reassuring attitude throughout the day kept such a calm and fun atmosphere present. We did experience some rain on our day which I thought might ruin some of our special shots we were trying to capture, but Leah delivered beautifully and worked with the elements to create photos that we will cherish for a lifetime. Not only is she great at what she does but she is also a wonderful person and you will leave your session feeling like she is someone you could be best friends with."

Mckinlee & Seth

"She knew exactly what to do and how to get the shots we really wanted. Leah and her assistant, Zain, helped make the day run smoothly and held our hands through the scheduling process. She also has a great "bride guide" on her website to help her clients know what to expect on their big day as well as tips leading up to it. Leah was respectful and polite but stern and took charge when necessary to keep the day running smoothly and include all of the memories in the photos. I actually cried when we got our sneak peek gallery because of how well they turned out and how they brought me back to the day, all of the emotions and love. Could not recommend Leah Goetzel Photography more, so impressed."

Bailey & Jesse

"I don’t know where to begin! Leah was awesome with our wedding and engagement photos. She kept me calm the entire day of the wedding, and even offered me her tide stick to get the stain out of my wedding dress (which worked). She went above and beyond the normal duties of a wedding photographer, and she made sure I stayed hydrated all day! She was excellent with staying on my day of timeline, and she assured me that we were right on schedule. We HIGHLY recommend Leah! She does not disappoint!"

Katie & Drew

"From the engagement shoot to the bridal portraits and the wedding she went out of her way to make everything perfect! Her kind heart and outstanding professionalism made working with her so easy. Leah isn’t there to just capture pictures, she is there to capture moments and emotions that will last a lifetime. If you are looking for a photographer, your search is over. Don’t pass this girl up!"

Morgan & Joe

"The pictures turned out beautifully and she got them to us so quickly. There is such a great blend of candid and posed, and we love how natural they look. She is so kind, mindful, and considerate. She is very professional and helped make our wedding day stress-free. We can't recommend her highly enough. Thanks again Leah!"
