On the Levee Wedding

Dallas Venues, Weddings

Emily and Nolan’s wedding at On the Levee was perfection. From Emily’s gorgeous dress, to the perfect weather, to one of the best wedding party’s I’ve ever photographed- their day was one for the books!

This was my 3rd time photographing Emily and 2nd time photographing Nolan. They had originally planned for their big wedding day to be in March, but thanks to coronavirus they instead had a small intimate ceremony and moved their large celebration to July. There was a lot of apprehension leading up to the wedding, what would the day look like? How many people could come? But these two were absolute troopers throughout the whole process- truly rays of positivity. Finally the day came and it couldn’t have gone better!

We started the day at the Virgin Hotel in the Design District in Dallas. The hotel was so cool. The whole suite had pop art and bright colors. It fit Emily and her bridal party perfectly. These gals were so fun to photograph, truly one of my favorite bridal parties I’ve ever had the pleasure of photographing. Walking into a room with 10+ strangers can always be a little intimidating, but this group made me feel welcome right away. Once Emily was done with her hair and makeup, we did a first look with all her gals and then headed over to All Saints Catholic Church for the ceremony.

The ceremony was a slightly shorter Catholic ceremony since they were technically already married. It was so sentimental and special. The look on Nolan’s face as Emily came down the aisle- absolutely priceless. After the speediest family photos in the history of the world, thanks to Emily’s awesome sister, we headed to the reception venue On the Levee.

On the Levee is a newer Dallas wedding venue. It is a massive, all white warehouse with the most incredible floor to ceiling windows. Truly a photographers dream.

The wedding reception started with Emily and Nolan’s first dance, followed by awesome toasts, 3 from the wedding party and 1 super emotional toast by dad. While I was having dinner, Sherry, the wedding planner, rushed in telling me to come quick and bring my camera. I dropped my food and rushed out to see their wedding cake literally toppling over. Nolan was doing his best to hold it up while Emily stood there crying with laughter. Some couples might have been upset with their collapsing wedding cake, but these two took it in absolute strides. Not only will that be something they’ll probably tell their kids one day, those photos are some of my favorite cake photos I’ve ever taken. Again, these two are just such positive, awesome people.

After a couple of hours the dance floor opened and boy could this crowd turn a party. I literally felt like I was at a club at times. Emily was spitting raps, Nolan was tearing up the dance floor, and their wedding party was having an absolute blast. It was the perfect end to the perfect day.

To Emily and Nolan:

Thank you for having me at your wedding, it was an absolute honor capturing your special day! I am so happy you both got to celebrate- y’all truly deserved the most awesome day. Wishing you both lots of love and happiness! xx
