Last summer I had the pleasure of photographing Tessa and Stephen’s elopement at Genesee Park in Colorado. These two were guests at Emily and Nolan’s wedding back in Texas and reached out after seeing I had moved to Colorado. We met over beers (how very Colorado) and chatted all about their special day. They told me they wanted a slightly different wedding, something non-traditional and just for them. We settled on them eloping at Genesee Park, one of their favorite parks and close to their home in Arvada. They wanted the day to be lowkey, stress-free and fun.
We started the day with a quick first look in a neighborhood park close to their parents house. The first look was so special and Stephen definitely shed some tears. I always recommend doing a first look on elopement days so that the “reveal” feels special even if you aren’t walking down an aisle.
Once at Genesee Park these two shared their own vows and kissed multiple times, because why the heck not? Afterwards they pitched some hammocks and shared some beers and just hung out for a while. They said it felt like a relaxed, normal day, just as they wanted.
After some portraits we made our way back into Denver to their backyard reception. Some family and friends arrived and they shared a toast before enjoying dinner and dessert. Everything was easy going and fully revolved around the couple.
