If you’re looking for a Colorado wedding venue that feels like Colorado—mountain views, horses, wide-open spaces, rustic buildings, and just the right amount of Western charm—4 Eagle Ranch is definitely one to put on your list.
Located in Wolcott, just about 25 minutes west of Vail, 4 Eagle Ranch gives you the mountain wedding experience without putting you directly in the middle of a resort town. And as a wedding photographer, I think that’s one of its biggest draws.
You get the gorgeous mountain backdrop, but you also get something a little different from the typical Colorado mountain wedding venue. This place actually feels like a ranch.
So, if you’re considering getting married at 4 Eagle Ranch, here’s everything I think you should know before you book.

4 Eagle Ranch is located at 4098 Highway 131 in Wolcott, Colorado.
The venue describes itself as being about 25 minutes west of Vail, which makes it a really nice option for couples who want access to the Vail Valley without necessarily having their entire wedding weekend take place at a ski resort.
And yes, your out-of-town guests will probably still spend a decent amount of time saying, “Wait, where exactly are we?” before realizing they are in Wolcott. Welcome to Colorado.
The short answer: rustic, spacious, relaxed, and very Colorado.
The ranch has several different event spaces, including the Event Center, Nelson Cabin, Carriage House, and Sawatch View Deck. The different spaces can be used depending on your guest count and the overall feel you’re going for.
The Sawatch View Deck is particularly beautiful for ceremonies because it gives you mountain views as your backdrop. The Event Center gives you a much larger indoor option for receptions and is a great backup plan when Colorado weather decides to do what Colorado weather does best—whatever it wants.
The Nelson Cabin is another option for couples wanting something smaller and more intimate. It can accommodate up to 85 guests, making it a particularly interesting option for a smaller wedding or rehearsal dinner.

4 Eagle Ranch can accommodate up to 300 people across its wedding and event venues, but in my opinion I feel like a guest count larger than 175 would start to feel a bit cramped.
The Ceremony & Reception Package includes private use of the Event Center for 11 hours, with one hour for the ceremony, four hours for setup and décor, five hours for the reception, and one hour for breakdown. It also includes tables, ceremony and reception chairs, a one-hour rehearsal, white china plates, flatware, a fire pit, onsite parking, and lawn games like cornhole, horseshoes, and steer-head roping.
Full buyouts for peak season begin at $11,000.
For most up to date pricing, reach out directly to the venue!
One of the nice things about 4 Eagle Ranch is that catering is handled in-house.
The venue says its chef offers menu options ranging from casual to gourmet and can work with couples on dietary needs.
This can be a major advantage if you don’t want to spend your engagement interviewing seventeen different caterers.
It also helps create a more cohesive experience for your guests, particularly if you’re planning a full wedding weekend at the ranch. And I can speak from experience, the food is great!
4 Eagle Ranch currently lists several bar options, including hosted bar, consumption bar, and cash bar.
Your exact alcohol pricing will depend on the package you choose, so make sure your proposal spells out what’s included and what isn’t.
This is another line item where it’s easy for a venue quote to look great initially and then grow once you add the bar, rentals, service fees, and all the other fun little expenses that mysteriously appear once you’re planning a wedding.
One of my favorite logistical perks of this venue is the onsite lodging.
4 Eagle Ranch has a six-bedroom, six-bath guest house, which the venue specifically describes as a space for couples and guests to stay after the wedding and as a getting-ready location for the bridal party.
From a photography perspective, having a dedicated place onsite to get ready is a huge win.
You don’t have to spend half your morning driving from a hotel to the venue. Your people are already there, your photographer can move between locations easily, and you don’t have to worry about whether the bridal party is going to show up on time because someone couldn’t find the Uber pickup spot.
There are also glamping accommodations and an RV park available on the property.
If you’re planning a destination wedding and want your guests to stay together, this is worth looking into.

Ceremonies can be held in a couple different locations, but the most popular is the Sawatch View Deck– this gives you beautiful views of the mountains and even has a small pond nestled in front.
There is a bit of a walk from the parking lot to the ceremony, but folks with mobility issues can either be driven up or take a ride in the horse drawn carriage.

Cocktail hour can be held in the covered awning of the Event center, giving folks plenty of space to spread out and also escape the heat. Where 4 Eagle really shines as a wedding venue is the ability for your guests to enjoy the Colorado outdoors– they can play lawn games, walk around the venue and take in the majestic mountain views.
It will be a showstopper for out of town and locals alike.

For larger weddings, most couples will opt for the Event Center as their reception space. This space features expansive ceilings and floor to ceiling windows providing ample lighting. There will be plenty of space for larger guest counts and tons of tables without feeling cramped.

The options are truly limitless!
There are plenty of shaded locations near getting ready, so many fun barns and historic looking buildings, the open meadow with mountain view and of course the pond by the ceremony.
You really get a ton of variety in a relatively small area.
Sunset is earlier than expected due to the mountains in the West, so keep that in mind when considering your Golden Hour portraits!

My absolute favorite part about 4 Eagle Ranch is the ability to have Rehearsal Dinner or Welcome Parties the night before. This turns your wedding into a full wedding weekend experience.
You can bring in games, mechanical bulls, axe throwing– the options are truly endless.
Rehearsal dinners can be held inside the main Event Center, but I love utilizing Nelson’s Cabin for a more intimate experience and it keeps the wedding reception a fun new surprise.

There are plenty of beautiful mountain venues in Colorado.
Not all of them have horses, historic cabins, ranch buildings, mountain views, and wide-open spaces all in one place.
If you want your wedding to feel distinctly Colorado, this is a strong contender
If you like variety in your wedding photos, this place delivers.
There are plenty of different textures, backdrops, and locations to keep your gallery from feeling repetitive.
4 Eagle Ranch is operated by the 4 Eagle Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit– they support local causes such as suicide prevention, senior care, food insecurity and aid to first responders.
If supporting a venue with a larger community-focused mission matters to you, that’s definitely worth considering.
Guests can explore the area, horseback ride, go rafting, take a Jeep tour, or simply hang out at the ranch.
Between the lodging and activities, your wedding doesn’t have to be a single five-hour event.
If you’re picturing chandeliers, sleek modern architecture, and a black-tie hotel ballroom, this probably isn’t your venue.
4 Eagle Ranch leans rustic and Western.
And that’s kind of the point.
You’re close to Vail, but you’re not actually in Vail.
For some couples, that’s a huge positive. For others, especially those wanting a walkable resort-town experience for their guests, it may be a downside.
The ranch is easy to reach by car from Vail and Beaver Creek, but because it’s outside the resort areas, I would think through guest transportation—especially if you’re serving alcohol.
If a large percentage of your guests are flying in, consider arranging shuttles from their hotels.
I’d put 4 Eagle Ranch high on the list for couples who want a true Colorado wedding, mountain views without a traditional ski resort setting, rustic and Western details, lots of outdoor space, a larger guest count, onsite lodging, activities for wedding guests, an indoor backup option, and a venue with plenty of photography variety.
I would probably look elsewhere if your dream wedding is more along the lines of a luxury ballroom, ultra-modern architecture, or an elegant black-tie resort experience.
But if your reaction to the words mountains, horses, fire pits, cabins, and champagne is basically “yes, please,” then you should probably schedule a tour.
If I were touring 4 Eagle Ranch with a couple, these are the questions I’d have written down:
I think 4 Eagle Ranch is one of those venues that makes the most sense when you stop thinking about your wedding as just a ceremony and reception.
It’s an experience.
Your guests can stay on the property, explore the ranch, ride horses, enjoy the mountains, hang around the fire pit, and celebrate with you in a setting that feels very different from a traditional hotel ballroom.
And from a photography standpoint, I love venues that give couples room to actually experience their day.
You’re not just taking photos in front of one pretty backdrop.
You’re moving through a real Colorado landscape.
You’re getting married with the mountains behind you, taking portraits around the ranch, laughing with your friends on the lawn, and ending the night under the stars.
That’s the kind of wedding day that tends to produce the photos I love most—the ones that don’t just show what your wedding looked like, but actually remind you what it felt like.
And honestly, isn’t that the whole point?

If you’re considering 4 Eagle Ranch for your Colorado wedding, I’d recommend touring the property in person and getting a current, itemized proposal before making any decisions. Venue pricing and packages can change, and your final cost will depend on your date, guest count, spaces, catering, bar, and other selections.
But if you’re dreaming of a laid-back Colorado wedding with mountain views, a little Western charm, and plenty of room for your people to have a really good time, 4 Eagle Ranch is absolutely worth a look.
