Amy & Jonathan
Breckenridge Nordic Center Wedding

Weddings

Amy and Jonathan’s wedding at Breckenridge Nordic Center was truly one of the most fun I’ve ever been to. From their perfect outdoor ceremony, to some incredibly sweet vows, to their epic dance party– this was a wedding that every couple dreams to have.

To Amy and Jonathan

Thank you both for trusting me to capture y’alls wedding day! It was such a blast to be a part of. I hope married life is treating y’all well and the coming years are filled with lots of love, laughter and adventure (though not too much adventure, looking at you Jonathan 😉)

The Inside Scoop

How did y’all meet?

Jonathan and I met while in college at WVU at a frat party. We then spent the next 2 weeks together which has now turned into 7 years. We moved out to Colorado 3 years ago and have been enjoying the Colorado lifestyle.

What are you looking forward to most about being married?

We have been engaged since 2020, so we are both ready to make it official!

Tell me about the proposal!

Jonathan and I designed the ring together with stones from my moms engagement ring and his grandmother ring, however I did not know when he was going to propose. He proposed at the top of Mt. Elbert (the tallest peak) with a few of our friends there and we had champagne at the top.

Have any honeymoon plans? Whatcha doin?

We are thinking about going to Costa Rica but have not made set plans yet. We felt like Costa Rica had a great balance between sitting on the beach (for Amy) and adventure (for jonathan)

The Wedding Day

Getting Ready

Amy and Jonathan both had two Airbnb’s rented literally a 3 minute walk to their venue, the Breckenridge Nordic Center. Both houses were beautiful and the perfect spaces for getting ready.

These two were incredibly organized and prepared, we showed up and they were both nearly completely ready! After a quick robe shot with Amy and her bridesmaids we headed outside to take some photos. In classic Colorado fashion, rain started to fall from the completely cloudless blue sky. What begin as a light drizzle turned into a decent amount of rain, which meant Amy’s makeshift flower umbrella was no longer cutting it. We headed inside to wait out the storm. Also in true Colorado fashion, the rain let up and we were able to head back outside for a few more photos.

Meanwhile, Jonathan was getting ready outside his Airbnb alongside his groomsmen and parents. Jonathan was recently in a bad ski accident so all movements had to be super slow and methodical. But brace or no brace Jonathan was such a trooper and truly had one of the best mindsets and personalities of any groom I’ve ever photographed.

Ceremony at Breckenridge Nordic Center

Amy and Jonathan chose not to do a First Look, which meant that the look on Jonathan’s face seeing Amy the first time was pure joy and surprise. It was such a sweet moment!

Their ceremony was short and sweet but super sentimental. Jonathan’s friend Zack was the officiant which made the entire ceremony personal and tailored to the couple.

The Breckenridge Nordic Center is such a gorgeous location for a summer wedding, everything was green and lush.

Wedding Party Photos

This group was so much fun! I had already hung out with the girls quite a bit in the morning, but immediately felt at ease with the guys as well. They were all down for whatever and even threw in some of their own suggestions.

Post Ceremony Portraits

Because of Jonathan’s injury and some ominous looking clouds rolling in, portraits were a bit shorter than usual. But these two were still absolute pros in front of the camera. We had done an engagement session previously at Sprague Lake– so everything from their session came rushing back.

Open Dancing

This dance party was one of my favorites. The dance floor was occupied nearly the entire evening. Some highlights? Two of the groomsmen kicking off the dancing with a choreographed number including a front flip, Amy rapping the entirety of The Real Slim Shady and every guest forming a huddle and singing Take Me Home, Country Roads.
