exterior
The Oaks at Plum Creek is a beautiful venue 25 miles outside Denver in Castle Rock. The venue sits right at the Plum Creek Golf Course and offers beautiful views of the green and Castle Rock. The exterior is a beautiful club style venue with large windows, clean lines and dramatic finishes. When your guests walk up to the Oaks they will surely be impressed with the exterior venue. There is plenty of parking at the Oaks and a large circular driveway with plenty of space for drop offs and bus pickups.
The views at the Oaks are really lovely. This is the view from the ceremony site.
Foyer
The Oaks at Plum Creek has beautiful high ceilings right when you walk in. There are massive wooden beams, dramatic chandeliers and a water feature right at the entrance. To the left is a coat check and the getting ready suites– to the right is the cocktail hour space and straight through is the reception area and ceremony site.
The Oaks at Plum Creek has the most gorgeous getting ready suites of any venue I’ve been to. (And I’ve been to a lot of wedding venues!) The main suite is massive with tons of natural light and lots of different hang out areas. There is a swinging bed (!!) which allows for the most impressive robe shots. There is plenty of space for all of your wedding party to comfortably hang out and get ready.
attached restroom
The restrooms attached to the main getting ready suite are stunning, they truly have a spa feel with all marble and gold accents.
attached terrace
There is also an outdoor terrace attached to the main getting ready suite, this spot is perfect for hanging out and private first looks.
The second getting ready suite has darker, speakeasy vibes. The suite has a large bar on the right as well as shuffleboard and a pool table.
One of the coolest parts of the Oaks is the golf simulator. This is a great spot to hang out and let off some steam before tying the knot!
The Oaks at Plum Creek has a beautiful lawn ceremony site overlooking the golf course. In the event of inclement weather the indoor reception space can be used as the ceremony site. You have a couple different options for ceremony layouts– as a wedding photographer I can help you out with which layout looks best at different times of the day!
side terrace
This side terrace wraps all around the back section of the Oaks and is a great place for guests to hang out during cocktail hour. I love that it's partially covered. There are plenty of chairs and even fireplaces scattered around to keep warm.
back of building
This is the back of the building taken from the ceremony site. You can see all the gorgeous windows of the reception space which make for the most beautiful natural light.
bar & Lounge
One of my favorite parts about the Oaks is the bar and lounge space. This is where cocktail hour is held and often getting ready portraits. It truly feels like a swanky bar. The gold and velvet finishes are stunning and there is plenty of space to mingle and hang out. This cocktail space is also transformed into a fantastic reception space with plenty of room for dancing, it is absolutely morphed into a dance club at night.
The reception space at the Oaks at Plum Creek is incredible. The space is completely encircled by windows which provides the most beautiful natural light. There are massive wooden ceilings and cool hanging chandeliers. The space could be decorated minimally or can truly be a canvas for whatever your vision. There is plenty of space of toasts, first dances and dinner.

The main getting ready suite is massive with tons of natural light and lots of different hang out areas. The second getting ready suite has darker, speakeasy vibes. I often photograph getting ready in the cocktail hour space to make use of the massive windows and gorgeous natural light. Getting ready at the Oaks is incredibly easy since the suites are all on site!
The ceremony site at the Oaks is situated right on the golf course. Which means you get beautiful, lush green views all year round. I just love how unique the view is. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony is held in the beautiful reception space, which has gorgeous natural light and the same views of the golf course outside. There is enough room for 200 people to sit comfortably outdoors. The "aisle" begins from the back of the building and is long and dramatic allowing for lots of photo opportunities!
I usually photograph family formals right at the alter, usually there is a some sort of arch or decor that creates a great backdrop. Typically at this point during the day the sun has set slightly making for super flattering light.
Wedding party photos at the Oaks are a breeze! There is plenty of space for even the largest of groups! Because the space is so well divided, it's super easy to do separate wedding party photos at the beginning of the day if you're not doing a First Look. (Not sure if you want to do a First Look? Check out this post all about it!) When the light is still harsh in the early afternoon, the front of the building makes a great spot for wedding party photos and portraits.
I absolutely love taking couples portraits at the Oaks– there are so many different backdrop locations– the unique trees, large pines, golf course views, cocktail hour space, the front of the building, the attached terrace, really the options are endless! Make sure you pencil in time for sunset portraits because sunset (or golden hour) is absolutely stunning at the Oaks and can't be missed!!
Cocktail hour allows your guests to wander throughout the venue. They have the option of mingling in the outdoor side terrace (which has gorgeous fire pits for warmth) or relaxing in the bar and lounge area. The gold and velvet finishes of the lounge are stunning and there is plenty of space to mingle and hang out. There is plenty of space of toasts, cake cutting and dinner. After the main events of the night are done, guests are welcomed into the cocktail hour space for dances. Make sure you communicate the location change ahead of time with your DJ so they can have their equipment set up and ready to go!
The Oaks cocktail hour space is transformed into a vibey nightclub feel for open dancing. The space has enough room that you don't feel cramped but isn't so much space that people feel awkward dancing. Depending on your DJ and their setup, the space really can feel like a club.
Here's a peek into one of my favorite weddings at the Oaks at Plum Creek. Melissa and Tyler's wedding was held in the late fall and luckily there was still a bit of color hanging onto the trees. The Oaks really comes alive during sunset, it's one of my favorite venues to photograph during golden hour. I just love the beautiful sun coming down over the golf course. If you'd like to see Tyler and Melissa's full wedding blog post, you can view it here!
