I’ve found that there are really two types of weddings. The weddings that are like parties- high energy, dancing until 1am. And then there’s the weddings that are quieter, centered around family and community. Neither is better than the other, I love both types of weddings equally. Abbey and James’ wedding at Chandler’s Gardens was the latter.
Their wedding was truly one of the most heartfelt, emotional weddings I’ve ever had the honor of photographing. There were three moments of prayer. I could feel the love and support this couple had literally radiating from the group around me. They are clearly so loved. The ceremony was officiated by James’s dad, which couldn’t have been more sentimental. It was personal, heartfelt, and funny in all the right moments. One of my favorite moments was when he whipped out his ipad to take a photo of the three of them at the altar. Classic dad.
And then during the reception, James sung to Abby. When I heard he was performing a song, I was like “that’s sweet, cool”, But this man can sing, sing. Like, Michael Bublè, Frank Sinatra sing. Abby and James are such sweet, welcoming, empathetic people. Their love feels like a Hallmark movie. I think every woman on Earth wants to have someone look at them the way James looks at Abby. It was such a joy to capture these special images for them.
I love photographing weddings at Chandler’s Gardens. The grounds are lush with tons of trees and flowers. It feels like a secret garden. I love the two different ceremony options- either under a gorgeous Pergola or a beautiful old oak tree.
