Colorado Mountain Elopement

Some of my favorite things to photograph is a Colorado mountain elopement.

And it’s not just because they are epic, it’s because they are usually intimate and personalized. The choice to elope can be a difficult one for some, but I have never experienced anyone regretting their choice to elope. I have however, had lots of couples and friends regret not eloping. If you need some more encourage for why you should have a Colorado mountain elopement, check out this blog post very aptly titled, why you should elope.

This elopement with Semhar and Stephen was one of my favorites. It combined everything I love about elopements. It was intimate (just the two of them) it was at a location that was meaningful, and they brought two bottles of champagne to celebrate– my kinda people.

This elopement was only a few hours, but many elopements can be all day. In fact I encourage that! Just because you’re eloping, doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be just as celebrated and special as a traditional wedding day.

Some ideas for making your elopement day special

  1. Start with getting ready together. One amazing thing about eloping is you get to truly spend the entire day with your fiance. So why not start first thing in the morning? I love when my couples begin their day with a yoga session or cooking breakfast together.
  2. Choose a location that is special to y’all. It can be tempting to just look up the best elopement locations in Colorado and call it a day. But instead, think about what’s meaningful to you as a couple. Do you love hiking? Are you obsessed with hanging out on the lake? Think about what makes y’all special and unique and then look for a targeted elopement location. If you need any help merging your personalities into an elopement location, send me a message! I love to help all my couples location scout.
  3. Plan an experience. I encourage all my couples to plan some sort of experience on their elopement day. Some ideas include: bringing a picnic, having a helicopter ride, hiring a private chef, enjoying a wine or beer tasting.
